Scrum Gathering Announces Updates

On June 27, 28, and 29, 2019, Rio de Janeiro will host the sixth edition of Scrum Gathering©, endorsed by Scrum Alliance. An agile management tool, Scrum is a method used for project management. It works through short cycles and steady results, streamlining and facilitating change. This makes it different from rigid, bureaucratic processes.

In addition to Scrum, the event brings talks on other agile methods and different ways of adopting them. The topics cover not only technology, which has become more widespread in recent years, but also subjects outside the technical field. Over the three days, talks and workshops will be presented, divided into six central themes, called tracks.

The keynotes, which are the event's highlight talks, will be part of the program. Klaus Leopold and Mari Zaparolli had already been confirmed. Now, three more keynotes have been announced. They are:

Actor and TV host Marcio Ballas, Breno Luz, HR planning superintendent at Itaú, a Brazilian bank, and Joe Yoder, founder of Refactory, will also be present to talk about their experience managing agile methods.

Marcio Ballas

A pioneer and Brazil's leading reference in improv, actor Marcio Ballas lived in Paris, where he studied at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq. He performed with the French “Clowns Without Borders” in Africa and in refugee camps during the Kosovo War. He was world improv champion at the International Festival of Bogotá. In Brazil, he was a hospital clown with “Doutores da Alegria” and hosted “É Tudo Improviso” on Band, a Brazilian TV network, as well as “Cante se Puder” and “Esse Artista Sou Eu” on SBT, another Brazilian TV network. He is artistic director of Casa do Humor and is currently performing “Noite de Improviso” at Comedians Club.

Breno Luz

Breno Luz holds an engineering degree from UNICAMP, a leading Brazilian university, and has spent 16 years at Itaú Unibanco, where he began his career as an intern and moved through the Operations, Efficiency, and Quality areas before reaching HR. A little over a year ago, as HR Planning Superintendent, he took on the mission of transforming the HR working model through Agility, working on process automation and the use of people analytics. This transformation has allowed HR to become even more strategic and capable not only of keeping pace with business evolution, but also of helping the bank adapt in this context of Digital Transformation.

Joe Yoder

Joe Yoder is the founder and director of The Refactory, a company focused on software architecture, design, implementation, consulting, and mentoring across all facets of software development. Joe is also president of the Hillside Group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people who use, build, or work with software systems. Joe has given numerous tutorials and talks, organized workshops, and helped organize major international technical and Agility conferences. He is known as the author of the “Big Ball of Mud” pattern, which exposes many fallacies present in software architecture.

Tracks:

– Agile Everywhere: Agility can be applied in any context. Far beyond IT, where the main agile methods originated, Agile has been transforming the world of work across the most diverse types of knowledge.

– Agile Management: What is the path to truly agile management? Within organizational transformation, management plays a fundamental role and directly influences the culture of continuous improvement. This track presents the main management challenges experienced within Agility.

– Coaching and Facilitation: Coaching and Facilitation are very important within creative and productive environments, especially when the focus is on learning and continuous improvement. This track presents techniques, case studies, and the main trends currently in practice.

– Product Management: Nothing is more inefficient than building a product no one wants to use. This track discusses the future of Agile Product Management, from defining what to build, through product strategy, to using metrics to better understand users and the product itself.

– Technical Excellence: This track is dedicated to the technical discussions of your team or organization. The team is Agile, but is it really building software with quality and in the best way possible? This track presents automation techniques and tools.

– Trends: Here, trends in the world of Agility will be presented, covering the technical, product, cultural, and organizational areas.
