As explained by Olhar Digital, after publication in the Diário Oficial da União, Brazil's official government gazette, several measures to protect citizens' data and privacy take effect. Among them is preventing data leaks.

According to BluePex CEO Jefferson Penteado, it is essential that companies, especially those with lower revenue, immediately comply with the new law. "The fines for non-compliance range from 2% of gross revenue up to R$ 50 million (per violation). A fine like that could mean the end of a successful business. And it's not enough to intend to protect your customers' data. The legislation requires that the company keep it secure," he warns.
The BluePex survey polled 389 companies in sectors such as healthcare, auto parts, technology, finance, engineering and energy, from all over Brazil, during the months of July and August.
